Heated Tent Rentals for Fall & Winter Events in Durham Region

Heated Tent Rentals for Fall & Winter Events in Durham Region

Outdoor season doesn’t have to end in September. Every fall, more of our clients in Ajax, Pickering, Whitby and across the GTA are hosting backyard weddings, corporate holiday parties, Diwali celebrations, birthdays and open houses under a tent — and staying comfortable while the temperature drops.

The secret is a properly set-up heated tent. Here’s how we put one together, and what to think about before you book.

1. Start with an enclosed frame tent

A frame tent is the best base for cold-weather events. It doesn’t need centre poles, so you get a clean open space for tables, a dance floor and heaters — and it can go up on grass, interlock, asphalt or a driveway (with cement weights on hard surfaces).

For warmth, the walls matter as much as the roof. Every wall we carry for our frame tents blocks the wind and holds in the heat. The real choice is how much you want to see:

  • Majestic walls: our most popular option. They combine window and clear panels, so guests still see the yard, the lights and even the snow. Each wall has a zipper down the middle. Unzip it, slide each half toward the tent’s leg poles and tie it back like a curtain. You get an instant open doorway or a breezy side when the room warms up.
  • French window walls: classic see-through window walls for a bright, open feel.
  • Solid white walls: fully private, so no one can see in or out. Most clients prefer the view, but solid walls are a great fit for women-only events or any celebration that needs complete privacy.

Not sure what size you need? Our guide on choosing the right tent size walks through it by guest count.

2. Choose the right heater

We carry three types of heaters, and the right one depends on your tent size and how cold it’ll be:

HeaterBest for
Stand-up Patio Heater (40,000 BTU)Smaller tents, cocktail areas, partially open tents in mild fall weather. Gives a warm glow guests love.
Forced Air Propane HeaterMid-size to large tents on cool nights. Moves warm air through the whole space quickly.
Diesel HeaterLarge tents and true winter events. Sits outside the tent and ducts heat in, keeping fumes and noise out.

Rule of thumb: plan on one patio heater for every 10’x10′ section of tent. For bigger tents, that adds up to a lot of heaters taking up floor space, so we suggest a forced-air propane heater or a diesel heater instead. One unit warms the whole tent and leaves the room free for tables and dancing.

We also rent the propane tanks, so your heat arrives ready to go. Tell us your guest count, date and location and we’ll recommend the right setup.

Safety first: heaters always keep proper clearance from tent walls and ceilings, and we never place fuel-burning units where fumes can build up in a fully closed tent. Our crew positions them during installation.

3. Get guests off the cold, wet ground

Cold travels up from the ground. A floor makes a bigger difference to comfort than most people expect — and it saves shoes from wet grass.

  • Plastic flooring: snaps together right on the lawn, giving guests a clean, dry surface. No more high heels sinking into the grass. Plastic flooring is flexible, so it follows the shape of the ground underneath. If your yard has dips or slopes, the floor will have them too.
  • Plywood flooring: rigid panels that bridge small dips, giving you a sturdier, flatter surface on uneven lawns.
  • Parquet dance floor — because people dance more when they’re warm.

4. Light it up for early sunsets

It’s dark by 6pm in November. Edison string lights, globe string lights or a crystal chandelier turn a white tent into a warm, glowing room.

5. Book early — and enjoy off-season perks

Fall and winter tent dates go quickly around Diwali and the December holiday party rush. A few things work in your favour this time of year:

  • No delivery minimum from September to May.
  • Our crew handles installation and dismantle of every tent.
  • We deliver and install the day before your event and pick up a day or two after, so there’s no rush on the big day or the morning after.
  • Need delivery or pickup at a specific time? Ask about our special time delivery option.
  • Permits are needed for tents over 646 sq ft (60 m²) — see our permit guide.
